Modern Hypnosis

Long gone are the days of swinging watches and pendulums, techniques which were hyped by television and films.

In this modern day and age, as we come to understand the mind, hypnosis becomes less of a mystery. Our knowledge of the scientific world greatly enhances our understanding of the skills and techniques used in modern hypnosis.

Here, we attempt to answer some of our visitors most common questions.

  • What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a natural therapy which uses a combination of skills, these skills include counseling, mind analysis and hypnotic techniques. Hypnosis is, in itself, purely a state of deep relaxation which helps a therapist to bypass a persons conscious mind to allow direct communication with the subconscious mind.

By using these hypnotic techniques a skilled therapist can help to direct a client towards therapeutic benefit, and in doing so, help clients to alleviate many types of problems of a physical or psychological nature.

  • What Conditions Can Benefit?
Hypnotherapy can be of extremely effective benefit to many type of problems over a wide spread spectrum, including: Fears, Phobias, Habits, Smoking, Weight, Confidence, Stress, Panic, Sleep problems, Anxiety, Behavioral problems and many, many more.

To compile a complete list would inevitably amount to an impractical amount of text, however, hypnotherapy is rapidly becoming more acceptable by the medical profession as regards its success within the life management of disorders.

  • How Does it Work?
A skilled therapist will use hypnosis to by-pass any interference and in doing so is able to direct a client to achieve therapeutic benefit by relieving problems and conditions.
  • Can Anyone be Hypnotised?
Although there are one or two exceptions, it would be true to answer this question with yes, however, people with a long history of mental illness and epilepsy are generally not suited to this type of therapy, this is because of there lack of ability to concentrate intensely. Also, a person who just does not want to be hypnotised, cannot be.
  • What Does it Feel Like?
Being hypnotised is nothing weird or mysterious, it is infact a state of heightened awareness, very much like a type of deep daydream. Those who expect to be zapped out as it were, have been seriously misled, the depiction of hypnosis through television and stage shows is not entirely accurate.

  • Can I be Made to Do Things I Don't Want To Do?
Absolutely not, if you are told to do or say anything that is against your own moral code of conduct you will simply come out of the hypnotic state automatically. You are not at anytime or by any means under any type of mysterious magic spell whilst you are hypnotised.
  • Is Hypnosis Dangerous?
No, Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state there are no known side effects associated with hypnosis except that clients persistently report feeling wonderfully calm and relaxed afterwards.
  • How Long Does Treatment Take?
Each of us have different types of problems with varying degrees of severity, because of this, it is not possible to evaluate how long therapy would take on an individual level until your problem has been assessed by your therapist.
